"providing for our client’s tastes, needs and desires."
Since 1986, Daniel Martinez, through his residential architecture has been creating breathtaking custom homes and renovations throughout the western United States and beyond. He founded his architectural firm with an extensive background in art and construction technology and has combined these disciplines to provide creative, dynamic and practical custom residential architectural and interior designs for his clientele. He is dedicated to the notion that residential design is unique to the client that will ultimately occupy the home. Designing with this strict belief and coupled with a comprehensive site analysis, each project becomes an extension of the personality of the owner, well balanced and proportioned within its surroundings. Through every last detail, each home becomes a clear reflection of the client’s tastes, needs and desires.
Having been raised in a family environment of professional artists and art instructors, Daniel has melded construction and engineering technologies with an organic artistic approach to architectural design. Integral to this design commitment is his ability to communicate his design ideas through stylized freehand conceptual sketches. While treating each project location as a three dimensional canvas, he develops his inspiration through compressive site analysis and illustrates this by way of these pencil and ink renderings. Throughout all his projects, these artistic depictions provide accurate illustrations to the home owner of small to large scale design concepts. These concepts become the ground work for communication with his clients to convey the interpretation of their life long and unique dreams of ‘home’. For his clients, this lost architectural art form, in our contemporary age of computer generated design, has proven to be a refreshing and informative component to the design process.
With his dedication to site specific design, Daniel incorporates extensive site analysis into all of his designs with the goal of achieving organic solutions for the finished product. In addition to providing site sensitive development, this practice helps provide the home owner with information and application opportunities of passive and active sustainable design for their homes.
Daniel remains active as an educator in the field of art and architecture as a lecturer and adjunct instructor to many institutions including California Polytechnic State University, Pomona, Los Angeles Unified School District, Fullerton City College Fine Arts Department, and currently holds a position as an Advisory Board Member for the Interior Architecture Department, Woodbury University.
Daniel Martinez’ work has been featured in several publications including Trends Magazine, The Los Angeles Times Living Section, Coast Magazine, Dream Homes Orange County and Extraordinary Homes of California.
“The aesthetic of exterior design is a solution evolving out of the needs of the client and the needs of the site environment, each concept relying exclusively on the other for success at project completion.”
“Interior design should achieve two distinct goals, the comfort of its occupants and an inviting transition to and from the outdoor environment. This goes beyond simply selecting the proper textures and colors within an interior palette. To realize these goals, the design must capture, produce and distribute light and ventilation, day and night, to enhance these choices.”
